Cinco de Mayo: More Than Margaritas
Today we raise a glass (responsibly) to Cinco de Mayo—a day often mistaken for Mexico’s Independence Day but actually commemorates the Mexican army’s underdog victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It’s a story of grit, resilience, and standing your ground even when the odds are stacked against you. Who doesn’t love an underdog?
In the U.S., Cinco de Mayo has taken on a life of its own—blending cultural pride with vibrant street festivals, tacos, tequila, and more cerveza than sense. And hey, I’m not mad at the good vibes. But amid the revelry, let’s not forget: culture isn’t a costume, and celebration shouldn’t come at the cost of safety.
So if you’re out enjoying the night, don’t get behind the wheel buzzed or worse. Call a rideshare. We’re out here—stone sober and snack-ready—keeping the roads safe while y’all party like it’s 1862.
Happy Cinco de Mayo!
